Timber town turned lifestyle belt: Wauchope and the country behind it are the kind of rural patch our machinery was bought for.
Wauchope grew up on timber and the Hastings River, and the country around it, Beechwood, King Creek, Pembrooke, up to Long Flat and the Comboyne plateau, is now a mix of working farms and lifestyle acreage. It is the sort of country where the jobs are real: overgrown blocks, long private power lines, dams that need work, and trees that were let go for a decade too long.
This is where owning the plant matters most. A lot of local operators have to hire in gear or knock back the bigger rural jobs; our excavators, tippers and tree equipment are ours, and the crew that quotes the job is the crew that turns up. Acreage and rural work is not our sideline, it is the work we most want.
The hinterland sits on the Essential Energy network, and long rural runs mean private poles and private lines are the owner’s responsibility. If a pole out here is leaning or has a defect notice on it, that is bread-and-butter Level 2 work for us.

Do you actually come out to the smaller hinterland villages?
Yes. Rural and acreage work is the priority for us, not an inconvenience. Distance up the valley does not put us off; tell us where the property is and we will sort the rest.
Can you handle a whole rural property in one go?
That is the model. Clearing, dams, driveway, tree work and power under one banner, so a property clean-up or set-up does not need four contractors who never talk to each other.
